Fleming Island is 2-8 against Creekside since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Fleming Island Golden Eagles will square off against the Creekside Knights at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, everything went Fleming Island's way against Palatka as Fleming Island made off with a 14-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Eagles.
Mallory Blackwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Olivia Sikes was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anisten Kurlander, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
Fleming Island always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palatka only posted an OBP of .160.
Meanwhile, Creekside won against Sandalwood on Thursday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Creekside came out on top against Mandarin by a score of 16-13. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Arianna Carrigan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Carrigan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Creekside let Presley Brinkley and Nickiyah Walker run wild. Brinkley scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5, while Walker went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Hailey Cunningham was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
Fleming Island's record is now 2-0. As for Creekside, their record is now an identical 2-0.
Fleming Island couldn't quite finish off Creekside when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Fleming Island avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
