The Mt. Vernon Marauders posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past New Castle 54-19 at home. Given Mt. Vernon's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while New Castle is ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, New Castle struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-4) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Mt. Vernon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-13 record this season. As for New Castle, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will take on Delta at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Delta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for New Castle, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Anderson at 6:00 p.m. Anderson and New Castle are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
