The Kings Mountain Mountaineers will square off against the North Gaston Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kings Mountain has seven straight victories, North Gaston has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Kings Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Huss get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Friday. The Mountaineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Anna Wooten made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Fleming, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Kayla McSwain was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Kings Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .886. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when North Gaston challenged Forestview on Friday. North Gaston took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forestview.
North Gaston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Postell, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Kings Mountain pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for North Gaston, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
North Gaston's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Kings Mountain has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for North Gaston, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Kings Mountain keep running through batters, or will North Gaston buck the trend?
Kings Mountain took their victory against North Gaston when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0. Does Kings Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Gaston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
