The Boyertown Bears will face off against the Owen J. Roberts Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Boyertown 3.8, Owen J. Roberts 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Boyertown and Spring-Ford had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bears fell just short of the Rams by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Boyertown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rielynn Carey, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Owen J. Roberts). They never let Upper Perkiomen get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Monday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by eight runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Maddie Reed, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Epps, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Owen J. Roberts always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Owen J. Roberts has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Boyertown, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Boyertown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. However, it's not like Owen J. Roberts struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
