After flying high against the Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions last Tuesday, the Oxford Prep Griffins came back down to earth. Oxford Prep was beaten by Vance Charter 61-32 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Oxford Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Vance Charter is ranked 189th).
Vance Charter found their leader in underclassman Alyssa Bullock, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 14 rebounds, and ten assists. Bullock is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Caelyn Bunn, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Oxford Prep has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Vance Charter, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Oxford Prep will head out on the road to face off against Roxboro Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vance Charter, they will be playing at home against Henderson Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
