Fairbanks moved up to 424 from 457 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Northwest Central. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of topping Perry 42-14.
Fort Loramie extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ridgemont, 75-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Redskins.
Hunter Burnett and Brent Nicol gave Fairbanks a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Burnett threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns, while Nicol ran for 219 yards. Teammate Hayden Dillon added to the ground attack by rushing for 31 yards.
Shane Rofe was the best wideout in the league this week as Upper Scioto Valley bested Riverside. Rofe tallied five receptions for 105 yards. Cole Crawford helped Upper Scioto Valley's passing attack out by catching four balls for 73 yards.
Austin Howard provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Rams defeated the Pirates. He completed 11 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 174 yards.
Dave Gebhart's team's Burnett and Phillip Gibson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Northwest Central in both passing and receiving yards. Burnett has thrown for 1879 yards this season, while Gibson, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 51 catches for 959 yards. Fort Loramie's Delaunte Thornton leads the league in rushing yards with 1087.
Waynesfield-Goshen's Gabe Hennon needs only 27 yards against Dayton Christian next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Hennon has rushed for 973 yards on 177 carries so far this year.
Entering into this week's contest against Riverside, Burnett is short just 121 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Fairbanks' Gibson needs only 41 receiving yards against Johnny Graher's team to crack 1,000 for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Matt Burgbacher's team takes on Upper Scioto Valley. As it stands, the Redskins are in first, while Josh Spencer's team is in seventh.
