The Rio Americano Raiders will take on the Kennedy Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Wednesday, Rio Americano came up short against Oakmont and fell 17-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in February (ten), the Raiders still had to take the loss.
Taylor Galbreath made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. T Callas was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kennedy). They were the clear victor by an 18-3 margin over Lincoln on Saturday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Alyssa Vallery made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Vallery was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also stole a stolen base, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kira Griffin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Malaiyah Fujinaga?starks, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5.
Kennedy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win got Kennedy back to even at 3-3. As for Rio Americano, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.
