The Windham Whippets waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lyman Memorial 77-37 at home. Windham has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 26 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Windham to victory, but perhaps none more so than Asihja Harris, who scored 20 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Lebiszczak, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Lyman Memorial's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jenny Lopez, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Ayanna Dillman who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Lopez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kelsey Dunnack was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Windham's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Lyman Memorial, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Windham will face off against Stonington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lyman Memorial, Lyman Memorial and Montville will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
