The First Baptist Academy Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop Verot Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully First Baptist Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, First Baptist Academy earned a 39-32 victory over Lemon Bay.
First Baptist Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Johnson, who scored 19 points along with 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of First Baptist Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zara Leilani Stewart, who scored 7 points along with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bishop Verot waltzed into Tuesday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past LaBelle 74-42 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-22.
The win got First Baptist Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Bishop Verot, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
First Baptist Academy suffered a grim 48-24 defeat to Bishop Verot in their previous matchup back in February. Can First Baptist Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
