Make it ten blowout wins for the Newberry Panthers this season. They claimed a resounding 91-41 victory over Santa Fe at home. Newberry's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Newberry was led to victory by Sarah Beaulieu and Brandy Whitfield. Beaulieu dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 assists, while Whitfield scored 35 points along with six assists and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitfield has scored all season. Ariyah Debose was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Despite the loss, Santa Fe saw an underclassman step up: Haleigh Richburgh scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Chohan, who scored six points.
Newberry has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Santa Fe, they dropped their record down to 6-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newberry won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Williston at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Williston and Newberry are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Santa Fe, they will head out on the road to challenge Eastside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
