The Carroll Chargers had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 52-48 W over Fort Wayne Bishop Luers on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Carroll's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Fort Wayne Bishop Luers is ranked 42nd).
Carroll got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaidyn Fuller out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fuller has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lily George, who scored 19 points.
Despite the loss, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers still got an impressive performance from Annika Davis, who scored 13 points along with six steals. Miley Wareing was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carroll only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Carroll's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they bumped their record down to 10-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carroll will square off against Fort Wayne South Side at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fort Wayne North Side at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Fort Wayne North Side focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday.
