The Wake Prep Academy Guardians are taking a road trip to square off against the East Wake Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wake Prep Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Wake Prep Academy took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against East Wake Academy by a score of 6-1.
Lexi Chambers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kyndall Miller and Emma Chambers did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple, while Emma went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Ava Nowoc was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, East Wake had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Rams as they made off with a 15-9 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Madison Keith made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Keith was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, East Wake let Madison Smith and Alissa Flood run wild. Smith went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Flood went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave Flood a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaimee Fowler, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
East Wake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory got Wake Prep Academy back to even at 5-5. As for East Wake, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wake Prep Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like East Wake struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
