Polk County is 9-1 against Owen since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Warhorses at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Polk County has three straight wins, Owen has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Polk County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past North Henderson 22-12 on Wednesday.

Nate Fagan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Polk County is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Fagan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Polk County got a massive performance out of Gunnar Alm, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Alm has become a key player for the Wolverines: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Noah Harden, who went 4-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Polk County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Owen came up short against North Buncombe on Wednesday, falling 16-5. That's two games in a row now that the Warhorses have lost by exactly 11 runs.
Polk County now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Owen, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
