The agony and the ecstasy of high school volleyball playoffs was in full display this past week. Champions were crowned while upsets sent others into the offseason.
Among the title winners this weekend were No. 9
Mother McAuley (Chicago), which downed
Benet Academy (Lisle) 2-1 for the Illinois 4A title. Michigan commit Ellie White was sensational in powering the Might Macs to their 16th state crown.
Wayzata (Plymouth) saw its 65-game win streak snapped earlier this season, but rebounded to win the Minnesota 4A title, the third in four years for the Trojans (they didn't play in 2020 because of COVID). Ohio's
Ursuline Academy (Cincinnati) and Arizona's
Corona del Sol (Tempe) and
Horizon (Scottsdale) also join the rankings after winning the Arizona 6A and 5A titles, respectively.
