La Quinta has been on the road for five straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Citrus Hill Hawks at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (La Quinta is ranked 946th, while Citrus Hill is ranked 931st).
Last Saturday, La Quinta was beaten by Yucca Valley 65-38.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Citrus Hill, as they earned their first road win of the season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Cathedral City 69-40 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-9.
Citrus Hill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kannon Steward, who scored 23 points along with 9 steals. The match was Steward's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jerren White, who almost dropped a triple-double on 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 steals.
The losses dropped La Quinta to 2-4 and Yucca Valley to 2-3.
La Quinta was able to grind out a solid victory over Citrus Hill when the teams last played back in January of 2016, winning 64-52. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Citrus Hill's Jaren Owens, who scored 13 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for La Quinta to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
