Ellensburg has gone a perfect 10-0 against Prosser recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. One thing working in Ellensburg's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
Last Friday, Ellensburg got the win against Quincy by a conclusive 17-2. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Jackrabbits: they've now won nine in a row.
Olivia Carlson made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Carlson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cheyenne Shewell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Sarah Stueckle was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Ellensburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Prosser fell victim to Othello and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Huskies. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly ten runs.
Ellensburg pushed their record up to 5-2-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Prosser, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-6-1.
Prosser's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ellensburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. It's a different story for Prosser, though, as they've only averaged .141. Will they be able to contain Ellensburg's hitters?
Ellensburg took their victory against Prosser when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-3 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
