Cross Creek have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will take on Thomson at home at 7:30 PM on Friday. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
We expected Cross Creek to have trouble with the significantly higher-ranked Burke County two weeks ago, and they did. Cross Creek have to be aching after a bruising 7-41 defeat to Burke County. Cross Creek got a solid performance out of Terence Mckenzie, who rushed for 88 yards and 1 touchdown; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win.
Meanwhile, Thomson were the first on the board but had to settle for second at the end of their game against Baldwin last Friday. Thomson suffered a grim 6-27 defeat to Baldwin. The state rankings had actually given Thomson a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
