Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Academy Eagles vs. GVCS Broadfording Lions

Heritage Academy is 1-8-1 against GVCS Broadfording since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 3:30 p.m. GVCS Broadfording took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Heritage Academy, who comes in off a win.

Heritage Academy will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Grace Academy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Knights on Tuesday. The contest marked the Eagles' most dominant win of the season.

Caleb Wise and Noah Poe made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wise didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Poe pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Heritage Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. At bat, Wise went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Poe went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Wise is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Micah Wilson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Heritage Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, GVCS Broadfording came up short against Musselman on Wednesday, falling 12-6. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Heritage Academy's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for GVCS Broadfording, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Heritage Academy might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from GVCS Broadfording in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
