Burns lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kaylee Greene, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Greene is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Maggie Earl was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and six steals.
Thomas Jefferson was led to victory by Samara Jones and Breasia Ussery. Jones scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, while Ussery scored nine points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Twitty, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 25 rebounds.
Burns' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11. As for Thomas Jefferson, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.
Burns will head out on the road to square off against Bessemer City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Greene and Kionna Pettus. As for Thomas Jefferson, they will head out on the road to challenge Shelby at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomas Jefferson is coming into the matchup with four straight victories on the road, so Shelby is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
