Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Haldane Blue Devils, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 21-14 to the Warriors on Friday. Haldane's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Haldane still got an impressive performance from Evan Giachinta, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Giachinta hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Ryan Van Tassel was another key contributor, rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Jaxon Mueller was his usual excellent self, rushing for 130 yards and three touchdowns for Stillwater.
Haldane's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Stillwater, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Haldane does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stillwater will face off against Tioga at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tioga knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 games -- so hopefully Stillwater likes a good challenge.
