Minnechaug Regional is 0-3 against Pope Francis Prep since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Minnechaug Regional Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Pope Francis Prep Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Minnechaug Regional is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Minnechaug Regional lost a heartbreaker to Pittsfield when they met back in January of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. Minnechaug Regional ended up on the wrong side of a tough 78-53 walloping at the hands of Pittsfield. While losing is never fun, Minnechaug Regional can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Pittsfield is ranked 38th).
Meanwhile, Pope Francis Prep scored the most points they've had all season to find success back in January. They really took it to Chicopee for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-47 win on the road. The victory was just what Pope Francis Prep needed coming off of a 74-50 loss in their prior matchup.
Minnechaug Regional's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Pope Francis Prep, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Minnechaug Regional might still be hurting after the 67-47 loss they got from Pope Francis Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Minnechaug Regional avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
