Basketball Recap: Syracuse Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cyprus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Syracuse). They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 76-35 win over the Cyprus Pirates. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Syracuse was led to victory by Kyleigh Nielson and Maylee Anderson. Nielson went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc on her way to 27 points and six assists, while Anderson went 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Anderson's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Sorenson, who made all 5 shots she took to post 10 points.

Syracuse smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Syracuse pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Cyprus, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Syracuse wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-24 win against Layton on the 10th. As for Cyprus, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-37 defeat against West Jordan on the 10th.
