Fox were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday, as they fell 20-24 to Hazelwood East. The defeat was a vexing one since Fox were expected to win based on their state ranking.
The loss dropped Fox's record to 6-1. The victory bumped Hazelwood East's record up to 5-2.
Next week Fox take on Seckman at 7:00 PM. Fox's defense better steel itself: Seckman are averaging 35.29 points per game. As for Hazelwood East, they will face off against McCluer. McCluer are limping into the matchup on a eight-game losing streak.
