The Ponca Indians were the 54-25 winner over the Bloomfield Bees when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Ponca was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to Bloomfield. Ponca has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
It was another big night for Madison Abbenhaus, who scored 33 points for Bloomfield. The game was Abbenhaus' 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kora Poppe, who scored 12 points.
Ponca has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Bloomfield, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ponca will face off against Wakefield on Tuesday. Wakefield will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Bloomfield won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Elgin/Pope John at 2:00 p.m. on January 6th. Elgin/Pope John will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
