After flying high against Lake Ridge Academy last Friday, Medina Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Medina Christian Academy Knights fell 60-49 to the Bristol Panthers on Monday. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the defeat, Medina Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Grace Workman posted 18 points. Workman is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ashley Conwill, who scored 11 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bristol to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Church, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. Those 24 points gave Church a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Mansfield, who earned 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Medina Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Bristol, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Medina Christian Academy will welcome St. Martin de Porres at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
