Rogers took a 15-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ponaganset on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 46 points in the game before, Rogers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Miles Ventura rushed for 19 yards and a touchdown. Francisco Aponte was his top target, picking up 59 receiving yards. On the ground, Travis Burroughs rushed for 63 yards.
It was another big night for Jason Pincince, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Rogers' loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Ponaganset, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Rogers will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on North Smithfield/Mount St. Charles Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 9th. North Smithfield/Mount St. Charles Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Ponaganset, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Lincoln is ranked seventh, while Ponaganset is ranked 20th).
