Prestonsburg extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 8 this week by beating Middlesboro, 36-33. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Black Cats.
Prestonsburg and the Yellowjackets played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Prestonsburg eventually emerging with a 36-33 victory. Jarredd Jarrell threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns and ran for eight yards in the win.
John Derossett's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Dalton Frasure chipped in 132 yards. Adam Griffith helped Prestonsburg's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 65 yards.
Frasure was the best wideout in the league this week as the Black Cats bested Middlesboro. Frasure racked up four receptions for 96 yards.
Prestonsburg's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Black Cats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jarrell has thrown for 2966 yards and 30 touchdowns this season, while Grant Anderson has 66 catches for 1142 yards. Jarrell also leads the league in rushing with 614 yards.
Prestonsburg's Bryson Williams is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 61 receiving yards against Danville to hit that benchmark. He has recorded 52 catches for 939 yards this year.
The Black Cats led the league in scoring this week after putting up 36 points on Ken Roark's team. Jarrell in the win.
