The King's Way Christian Knights will face off against the Seton Catholic Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. King's Way Christian has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 15.
King's Way Christian's last matchup with Tenino could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Monday. The Knights lost 11-3 to the Beavers.
Lauren Lewis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Wickum, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic got the win against Castle Rock on Thursday by a conclusive 15-3. Considering the Cougars have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Zola Stephens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Seton Catholic got a big performance out of Brooklynn Lubisich, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kingsley Williams, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
The win made it two in a row for Seton Catholic and bumps their season record up to 14-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for King's Way Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. King's Way Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Seton Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
King's Way Christian might still be hurting after the 19-3 loss they got from Seton Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
