After a string of six wins, the Eastern Alamance Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Southern Alamance by a score of 67-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (62), Eastern Alamance still had to take the loss.
Eastern Alamance's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordan Matthews, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Ja'vier Tinnin who scored 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Matthews has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Reaves, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Eastern Alamance's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for Southern Alamance, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Alamance will square off against Orange at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Orange's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Southern Alamance, they will head out on the road to take on Western Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Alamance will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 412th, while Southern Alamance is ranked 204th).
