Shrine Catholic had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Oakland Christian on Monday. The Knights blew past the Lancers 13-5. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Sean Murphy and Nate Alba made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Murphy pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Alba struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). At bat, Murphy went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Alba got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Poulton, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Blake Archibald, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Shrine Catholic's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Oakland Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shrine Catholic will host Clawson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oakland Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Plymouth Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m.
