North Union is 6-1 against London since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will host the Red Raiders at 5:15 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: North Union has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while London will arrive with four straight wins.
Last Wednesday, North Union didn't have quite enough to beat Benjamin Logan and fell 10-9.
Emma McElroy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kale Keigley, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, London got the win against Miami Trace on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Sophie Alt was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Peterman, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Gwyn Wieber was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
London kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
London's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Union has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like London struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
