The Destiny Christian Wildcats had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They put the hurt on Southwest Christian Academy with a sharp 42-20 victory. The result was nothing new for Destiny Christian, who have now won five matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Destiny Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dennis Dibbe out in front who rushed for 235 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Jason Ramsey also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Southwest Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Ferguson, who picked up 215 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Ferguson's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards. Another player making a difference was Thomas Stewart, who threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt.
Destiny Christian's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Trinity Christian and 3-6 Southwest Christian Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.8% over those games). As for Southwest Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Destiny Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Crossover Prep at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. As for Southwest Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Arkansas Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Arkansas Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
