The Los Osos Grizzlies will be taking part in a tournament against the Northview Vikings at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Los Osos saw some tournament action on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Riverside Prep.
Makenna Estep and Kassandra Granillo did most of the damage at the plate: Estep got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Granillo scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Granillo a new career-high in RBI (two). Kait Garcia was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Northview took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Temple City with a sharp 16-1 win.
Northview got a massive performance out of Bella Ochoa, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Marilyn Sandoval, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Northview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Temple City only posted an OBP of .111.
Los Osos' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Northview, their record is now 1-0.
Los Osos came up short against Northview when the teams last played back in March of 2023, falling 7-4. Can Los Osos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
