While Albuquerque Academy's win against Bernalillo wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chargers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Spartans 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-1 back in March.

Matthew Delaney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Albuquerque Academy and bumps their season record up to 11-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Bernalillo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Albuquerque Academy will head out to face off against Belen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bernalillo, they are taking a road trip to take on Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
