Basketball Recap: Maclay's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Maclay had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 63-52 win over the North Florida Christian Eagles. The Marauders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Maclay had a senior duo take command as George Grant posted 14 points and Andrew Lunt scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Lunt. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Beshears, who had ten points.

North Florida Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Parker Freeland, who earned 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Freeland has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Nyle Wright, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 19 points.

Maclay's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6. As for North Florida Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Maclay and North Florida Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Maclay (ranked 306th) will meet Spruce Creek (ranked 86th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, North Florida Christian (ranked 469th) will meet Crossroad Academy (ranked 127th) at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
