In other pitching news, Trinty DeVries looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Presley Miller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shannon Bailey, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Mount Dora Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Mount Dora unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against Vanguard, falling 12-2.
PEYTON KOLVA made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Mount Dora's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Mount Dora Christian Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mount Dora, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mount Dora Christian Academy continue to outrun the ball?
