Westside rang in the new year with a 67-55 win over Rutland on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Joshua Harden, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. The matchup was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chauncey Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Westside's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for Rutland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.
Westside will be playing in front of their home fans against Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Baldwin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Westside in Georgia (Baldwin is ranked 48th, while Westside is ranked 171st). Rutland is on the road again on Saturday and play against Southwest at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th.
