Baseball Game Preview: Brookland-Cayce Bearcats vs. Dutch Fork Silver Foxes

Brookland-Cayce is 0-4 against Dutch Fork since March of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Bearcats will welcome the Silver Foxes at 6:30 p.m.

Brookland-Cayce is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They fell 7-2 to Chapin.

Rylan Bullis was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Brookland-Cayce: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Dutch Fork came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Stallions 7-1. Considering the Silver Foxes have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

C Morden made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ethan Offing was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Raleigh Salters, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Dutch Fork always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horse Creek Academy only posted an OBP of .292.

Brookland-Cayce's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Dutch Fork, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
