The Hunters Lane Warriors and the Davidson Academy Bears will round out the year against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Hunters Lane has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 21.
Hunters Lane struggled with offensive rebounds last Friday (Hume-Fogg had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hunters Lane was outmatched by Hume-Fogg at home and fell 67-40. While losing is never fun, Hunters Lane can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Hume-Fogg is ranked 151st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jacques Battle, who scored six points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that he grabbed two or more steals. Amarien Kelly was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Davidson Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They breezed by Dayspring Academy on the road to the tune of 93-41. That 93-41 margin sets a new team best for Davidson Academy this season.
Hunters Lane's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8. As for Davidson Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season.
Hunters Lane came up short against Davidson Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 56-51. Can Hunters Lane avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
