Baseball Recap: Hilltop Has No Trouble Against Gorham Fayette

Hilltop won the last time they faced Gorham Fayette and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cadets blew past the Eagles 14-1. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Hilltop let Terry Rebeck and Devin Dempsey run wild. Rebeck went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Dempsey went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Hilltop is undefeated when Rebeck posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Anthony Jiannuzzi, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Hilltop was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Hilltop now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Gorham Fayette, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Hilltop will welcome Ayersville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Gorham Fayette, they will head out to challenge Montpelier at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
