Kenwood had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their defense stepped up to hand the Lyons Lions a 19-0 shutout on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Broncos, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Kenwood found their leader in freshman Kerry Hopewell, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to Amber Nash.
Kenwood's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Lyons, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-4.
