Alcona is 3-0 against Johannesburg-Lewiston since February of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Alcona Tigers are on the road again and play against the Johannesburg-Lewiston Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on December 18th. Alcona will be strutting in after a win while Johannesburg-Lewiston will be coming in after a loss.
Alcona has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 35 points or more this season. They took their game on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 66-24 victory over Au Gres-Sims.
Alcona's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garrett Somers, who scored six points along with five assists and five rebounds. Somers hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of David Sharboneau, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Johannesburg-Lewiston took a serious blow against Onaway on Thursday, falling 85-51. Johannesburg-Lewiston has struggled against Onaway recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Alcona's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Johannesburg-Lewiston, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Alcona took their win against Johannesburg-Lewiston in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 62-41. Will Alcona repeat their success, or does Johannesburg-Lewiston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
