Softball Recap: Hempfield Area Has No Trouble Against Norwin

While Hempfield Area put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Norwin. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Knights. Considering the Spartans have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jorjah Ostrosky and Allie Cervola did most of the damage at the plate: Ostrosky went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Cervola went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave Ostrosky a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Mitchell, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Hempfield Area and bumps their season record up to 21-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Norwin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Hempfield Area will be playing in front of their home fans against Seneca Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Norwin, they will square off against North Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
