It was a good run, but Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 43-29 bruising from Wheaton Academy. While losing is never fun, Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Wheaton Academy is ranked 141st).
Despite the defeat, Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family had strong showings from Elizabeth Beto, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Alice Hansen, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six blocks. Beto is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Caylee Hamilton, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Wheaton Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Universal at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Wheaton Academy and Walther Christian Academy will round out the year against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. Walther Christian Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
