Baseball Recap: Truman Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Truman came out on top against Fort Osage on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Patriots walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Indians. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Trevor Ottens and Anthony Manfredi did most of the damage at the plate: Ottens went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Manfredi went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave Manfredi a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caden Deeney, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Truman's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-12. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Fort Osage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Truman will be playing in front of their home fans against Ruskin at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fort Osage, they will head out on the road to challenge Raytown at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
