Imperial Valley recap October 1, 2013
Imperial extended the longest winning streak in Imperial Valley this week by beating Olympian, 58-17. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Imperial scaled the state rankings by moving to 158 from 242 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Kerry Legarra's team climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Eagles 58-17.
Royce Freeman was a passing and rushing force as the Tigers topped Olympian. Freeman's favorite target this week was DaJon Staton, who caught 5 passes for 63 yards.
Freeman was a beast in the backfield as Imperial bested Paul Van Nostrand's team.
Freeman was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 291 yards on 22 carries as the Tigers beat the Eagles. Chris Carter also contributed to the rushing game with 140 yards on the ground.
Leading Imperial Valley in both passing and receiving yards, Palo Verde Valley's Logan Whiting and Damian Ramirez have proven to be a lethal combination. Whiting has thrown for 415 yards this season, while Ramirez, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 19 catches for 527 yards. Freeman from Imperial leads the league in rushing with 1,403 yards.
The Tigers took down Olympian 58-17 last week, the largest margin of any game. Freeman threw for 35 yards and ran for 291 yards during the win.
