Ocoee has gone 8-2 against Wekiva recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Ocoee will head out on the road to square off against Wekiva at 6:00 p.m. Ocoee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Ocoee took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over South Lake.
Kylie Holden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Holden was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trista Fitzpatrick, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Jayda Solano also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Ocoee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Wekiva might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was West Orange who claimed the real prize. Wekiva lost 18-3 to West Orange.
Wekiva saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camilla Delgado, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Another was J. Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
The victory got Ocoee back to even at 6-6. As for Wekiva, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Wekiva's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ocoee has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Wekiva, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Ocoee's sizable advantage in that area, Wekiva will need to find a way to close that gap.
Ocoee took their win against Wekiva when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1. Will Ocoee repeat their success, or does Wekiva has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
