Meanwhile, Wildwood put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 52-33 victory over Mount Dora Christian Academy. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Bulldogs are ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wildwood's win came from a few key players Chiefland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kayla Lyde, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. What's more, she also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zoey Brown, who went 7 of 17 en route to 15 points and five steals.
Wildwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Wildwood's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-0. As for Chiefland, their record now sits at 19-5.
Chiefland took a serious blow against Wildwood when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 72-18. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wildwood's Trinidy Harris, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 18 points and seven steals. Now that Chiefland knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
