Basketball Game Preview: Bowman Academy Eagles vs. East Chicago Central Cardinals

The Bowman Academy Eagles will venture away from home to take on the East Chicago Central Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Chicago Central took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bowman Academy, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Bowman Academy turned things around against Calumet New Tech on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Warriors 54-16. The game marked the Eagles' most dominant win of the season so far.

Bowman Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kahlen Robinson out in front who went 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points and five steals. Robinson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 27 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Jackson, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, East Chicago Central played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 64-21 loss at the hands of Marquette Catholic. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Blazers: they've now lost four in a row.

Bowman Academy's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for East Chicago Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Bowman Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against East Chicago Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 51-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bowman Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
