The Burncoat Patriots can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 86-51 victory over Blackstone-Millville. Given Burncoat's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Blackstone-Millville is ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burncoat found their leader in underclassman Jaiden Johnston, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyton Marshall, who scored 11 points.
Despite the defeat, Blackstone-Millville had strong showings from Karson Cournoyer, who scored 13 points, and Brady Folster, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Logan McCourt, who scored nine points.
The victory made it two in a row for Burncoat and bumps their season record up to 10-6. As for Blackstone-Millville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burncoat will challenge Shrewsbury at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Burncoat has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Blackstone-Millville, they will head out on the road to face off against Keefe Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Blackstone-Millville is coming into the match with seven straight losses on the road, meaning Keefe Tech will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
